Standard eye protection

Protective glasses using common amber coloured lens utilise an absorptive technology which absorbs most, but not all of the incoming laser light. Everything in the pilot’s field of view, including the instrument panel is orange. Many of the avionics’ green and blue colours are not visible.

Orange absorption filter provides:

  • No colour recognition for cockpit instruments
  • Transmission of red and orange light only
  • Visible light transmission reduced to <30%
  • No possibility for prescription lenses

ST Laserstrike filters are manufactured using bespoke high quality optical grade thermoplastic providing a combination of low weight and high impact strength. ST Laserstrike utilize the latest lens manufacturing and coating technologies to produce the most advanced product available; providing all- round unrivalled defence against laser attacks along with high visible transmission and cockpit colour recognition.

ST Laserstrike has two levels of protection available.

Type 1 – General laser flash protection (suitable for most operations)

  • Allow normal operation with laser pointers <200mW* Provides high level of eye damage protection from sources up to 2W*
  • Provide approx. 40% Visible Light Transmission

*based on pilot being >200m from source & typical beam divergence. To comply with minimum EN207 DIR LB2 (400-445nm blue, 532nm green, 808-1064nm Infrared)

Type 2 – High powered laser attack protection (suitable for extreme environments)

  • Allow normal operation with laser pointers <2W*
  • Provides high level of eye damage protection from sources up to 20W*
  • Provide approx. 30% Visible Light Transmission
